The NET project is committed to preparing students for the 21st century workforce through the promotion of gender neutral educational strategies and practices.

The Vanguard Award recognizes outstanding
secondary (juniors & seniors) and postsecondary level students who are enrolled in CTE programs that are not traditional
for their gender. Since the Vanguard Student Recognition Award program was initiated by the Career
Options Institute in 1993, more than 115 students enrolled in programs leading to nontraditional careers
have been recognized.
The Net Project is funded by NYSED through a Carl D. Perkins Grant.
Students must be nominated by faculty and staff of secondary and postsecondary nontraditional CTE programs throughout New York State.
